Welcome to the ME Portal

The site was initially developed in 2007 as part of a Government funded programme for universities to improve information and support to sufferers of ME/CFS, a neurological illness, and other interested parties. It is now updated by Linda Danielis of Carlisle ME/CFS Support Group, using donations to pay for hosting etc.

The aim is to give appropriate supporting information or to signpost users to appropriate sources of help, in order to improve the patient experience. Guidance is given about appraising information quality in order to improve the ability of the user to determine the truth and develop their knowledge either as an Expert Patient, enabling constructive dialogue about appropriate their health care and support, or interested other.

Due to the current position of medical research into the illness, support and information is crucial to the patient experience in order that they may be an active partner in any treatments suggested. The medical profession recognise the active help that support and information can give in improving the health outcomes of patients who live with a chronic condition.
